Healistic expands 2-hour prescription delivery to Manchester and Birmingham

Healistic expands 2-hour prescription delivery to Manchester and Birmingham

Patients in Manchester and Birmingham can now have private prescription medication delivered in as little as two hours through Healistic.

We've expanded the service already available in Greater London, which means two-hour delivery is now available across the UK's three largest cities. Patients across the wider UK can continue to get their medication delivered within 24 hours.

Clinics don't need to do anything differently. Clinicians canissue a private e-prescription through Healistic in seconds, then we handle everything to do with pharmacy fulfilment and delivery.

Two-hour prescription delivery is now available in three UK cities

The expansion means patients in Greater London, Manchester and Birmingham can now choose two-hour delivery for prescriptions through Healistic.

But how does it work? Well, once a clinician has issued the prescription, the patient receives a secure link to arrange payment and delivery. Healistic sends the prescription for fulfilment through its pharmacy network and the medication is delivered directly to their chosen address.

For a patient who's not well or immobile, that cuts out a frustrating part of getting medication: taking a prescription to a pharmacy, finding out the medicine isn't in stock and having to try somewhere else.

It's also useful for clinics. Once the prescription has been issued, their team doesn't need to start calling pharmacies or arranging couriers on the patient's behalf.

Solving the UK’s medication stock crisis

Getting a courier to a patient's door quickly only works if you can get hold of the medication in the first place.

Around 700 medicine supply issues were reported to the Department of Health and Social Care during the first six months of 2026. Community Pharmacy England's 2026 Pharmacy Pressures Survey found that 72% of pharmacy team members said medicine shortages were affecting patients every day.

It also found that 88% had seen patients make repeat visits to different pharmacies looking for medicines.

For a patient, that can mean ringing or visiting multiple pharmacies after they've already seen a clinician and been prescribed the treatment they need. For the clinic, it can mean calls from patients asking what to do next and staff spending time trying to help find stock.

We've covered this in more detail in our guide towhat doctors can do when pharmacies are out of medication stock.

It's one of the reasons Healistic isn't built around a single dispensing pharmacy.

What happens if one pharmacy doesn't have the medication?

Healistic works across a nationwide network of pharmacy partners.

Instead of every prescription being sent through one dispensing location, we can route prescriptions based on where the patient is and where their medication is available.

If one pharmacy doesn't have the medication in stock, the whole process doesn't have to stop there. Having a wider network gives us more options for getting the prescription fulfilled without leaving the patient or clinic to start searching themselves.

Daniel Bulkin, founder of Healistic, said:

"Two-hour delivery is obviously the headline, but the bigger focus for us is what happens between the clinician writing the prescription and the medication reaching the patient.

"If the first pharmacy doesn't have something in stock, the patient shouldn't have to become the person responsible for finding it, and neither should the clinic.

"We've built Healistic around a nationwide pharmacy network so we can find the right pharmacy for that prescription based on where the patient is and where the medication is actually available."

How does Healistic work for clinics?

For clinicians, the process starts with an electronic prescription.

Rather than writing or printing a paper private prescription for the patient to take away, clinicians can create and issue it online through Healistic. It takes seconds and can be done from a phone, tablet or computer.

From there, Healistic manages the prescription through fulfilment and delivery. The patient receives the information they need directly, so the clinic doesn't have to arrange collection or delivery separately.

If your clinic still uses paper prescriptions, our guide tohow to write an online private prescription explains how electronic prescribing works and what changes for the clinician and patient.

Clinics can also use Healistic for controlled drug e-prescriptions, including eligible Schedule 2 to 5 controlled drugs.

Does the clinic have to be in Manchester or Birmingham?

No, the delivery time is based on where the patient is.

A clinician could be consulting from a clinic in London while their patient is at home in Manchester. If the patient's address is within the delivery area, they'll be shown the relevant delivery options after their prescription has been issued.

That also makes the service useful for telehealth companies and clinics treating patients around the country rather than from one physical location.

Healistic now services more than 1,500 clinic user accounts

The expansion follows a period of fast growth for Healistic. We've grown 40-fold over the past few years and now service more than 1,500 clinic user accounts across the UK, with clinicians across every major private hospital group using the platform.

As that number has grown, we've had more clinics outside London asking when two-hour delivery would be available to their patients too.

Manchester and Birmingham are the first cities we've added beyond Greater London, with further expansion planned.

Clinics don't pay a setup fee, subscription or prescribing fee to use Healistic. You cancreate a free Healistic account and start issuing private e-prescriptions online.

Two-hour delivery is now available for eligible private prescriptions in Greater London, Manchester and Birmingham, with delivery within 24 hours available across the rest of the UK.
